The Golden Cross to Compton Verney

 

Coming 2 weeks after the Brailes Show was the ‘Chairman’s Picnic’ but this was not blessed with fine weather. The rain held off for us until we had all parked up at Compton Verney but during our picnic it poured in torrents. Fortunately we were able to use an inside room which worked extremely well, with a table laid in the middle of the room, full of all sorts of food. The ‘Catering Girls’ were kept busy dispensing hot drinks, although most of us started with something more refreshing. After the picnic lunch everyone wandered around the collections in the house which are vast and varied. There was still plenty of food left for us all to have afternoon tea before clearing-up and setting off for home, by which time the rain had gone leaving clearer skies. All the feedback was a great day out, so do we repeat it next year? If so where would you like to go? Of course it would not have been possible without the organisation of Jane and the assistance of Julia & Gaynor, so many thanks to you from all of us, well done.
