Outside the Golden Cross Ready to go
My first trip to LeMans for the 24 hours endurance and in my 1967 MGB Roadster
The yellow MGB GT belongs to my son who organized the trip, his third in his MG. Accommodation was at a Campsite near Arnage, trip included a visit to Classic British Welcome, (via Mulsanne Straight at legal limits not 240mph!!)
We took the Dover/Calais route to give some extra mileage and 'take in' the experience of travelling with the entourage making their way to LeMans.
Unfortunately it rained for half the trip, so driving was not always pleasant, but arrived in the dry.
Sat on the start/finish straight at 3am in the morning with a glass of red wine watching the cars zoom by, not to be missed.
First time I had been to France, so first time I had driven on the right.
Hey, we complain about road works, well the French closed the motorway into Calais Port to resurface it on the Monday after Le Mans!!! With a 20 mile detour.
Regards
Derek (Jackson)
